How To Get An Emergency Dental Appointment In Sheffield

How To Get An Emergency Dental Appointment In Sheffield

When you’re in pain and urgently need a dentist appointment, being told there’s a long wait is the last thing you need.

Many NHS dentists in Sheffield are currently at capacity, with some closing their waiting list altogether. So, how can you quickly get a dentist appointment in Sheffield?

Find an affordable private dentist

Although NHS dentists are struggling to catch up with the backlog of missed appointments caused by the pandemic, private dentists don’t usually have a waiting list and can book you an appointment immediately.

How long you’ll have to wait for your appointment depends on whether it’s an emergency and whether you need to attend during the evening or weekend. Most private dentists have several dentists and appointment times to choose from, and contrary to popular belief, ‘private’ doesn’t always mean expensive.

Your dentist will discuss the treatment you need and ways to make this more affordable. At Mola Dental, we offer dental plans that start from just £8.99 per month, including check-ups and hygienist visits and a 15% discount on treatments.

We also offer 0% finance which allows you to spread the cost of treatment over 6, 10, or 12 months. It’s also worth checking whether private dental care is covered by your employer, as they might offer to reimburse all or part of your treatment costs.

Look for a reputable practice that offers appointments for non-registered patients

In the event of an emergency, many practices offer appointments for people who aren’t registered as a patient. There’s usually an additional fee, but the most important thing is quickly receiving the treatment you need.

Here’s what to check when looking for a practice to help you in an emergency:

  • Do they offer emergency appointments for people who aren’t patients? (Many practices keep a set number of appointments available for these situations).
  • Are their dentists registered with the General Dental Council (GDC)? A reputable practice usually has a meet-the-team page with their team’s GDC numbers listed.
  • What do their reviews say? A quick Google search or a look at their website should give you a good indication of the quality of the practice. We recommend looking for a different practice if there are no reviews or primarily negative ones.

If you’re having a dental emergency in Sheffield, call Mola Dental on 0114 317 7002. Explain the problem you’re experiencing as best as you can, and we’ll be able to advise you from there.

What’s classed as a dental emergency?

  • Anything causing you pain or distress.
  • Swelling, bleeding, or a chipped or missing tooth.
  • Pain from braces, veneers, wisdom teeth, loose teeth, or toothache.

If you’re not sure if you’re experiencing an emergency, we encourage you to contact us so we can advise the best course of action.

Register with a practice when you move to a new area

We know there’s always a long to-do list when you move to a new area, but amongst registering with your local doctors surgery and finding out when bin day is, make sure you register with a dental practice when you first move, not when you need an appointment. We’re based in Millhouses at the Archer Road retail park, not far from Sheffield, Dronfield, and Chesterfield.

At Mola Dental, we can offer off-peak appointments in as little as ten days, and we’re accepting new patients. However, this isn’t the case for every dental practice.
