I suffer from really bad migraines. As I have a tendency to tense up my jaw severely I was delighted when I found out that Mola dental offers botox injections as a way to counter act this. After my first set of injections I noticed a massive improvement on my migraines that were reduced significantly. I go to Francesca for my injections and it’s so noticeable that she really takes a lot of care of the health of her pt’s and that she will do her utmost to get a good result for you. She will bring you back 2 weeks after your treatment to see if you need a top-up or if you have any further questions, and this is all part of the initial cost of the injections. I can’t thank her enough really for everything that she has done for me!!!! I also see her as my dental hygienist and I can only give her the very highest praise on that front as well. Also, the Mola dental practice is the cleanest one I’ve ever been to and the all-round staff as super friendly so I can really recommend Francesca and this practice for any of your dental needs!!!!

What Is Invisalign Treatment?

Invisalign is a revolutionary orthodontic treatment that uses clear aligners made of smooth, BPA-free plastic to help straighten teeth discreetly.

There is no need for the brackets, archwires, and elastic bands used by more conventional braces. Invisalign is particularly successful in treating overly crowded or widely spaced teeth and can also relieve more complex issues, including overbites, underbites, and even crossbites.

Invisalign treatment is one of our cosmetic dentistry offerings at Mola Dental, a trusted provider of dental care in Sheffield.

Patient Information: How Does Invisalign Work

Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners that are custom-made for your teeth. Each aligner is worn for about 1-2 weeks before being switched out for the next in the treatment series. The aligners apply controlled forces to your teeth to incrementally move them into the desired position determined by your dentist’s treatment plan.

The Invisalign clear aligners are removable, making it easy to eat, drink, brush, and floss. They are nearly invisible, so many people won’t even notice you are straightening your teeth. Compared to traditional braces, Invisalign offers fewer food restrictions and is more hygienic overall.

The duration of treatment varies, but the average Invisalign case is substantially quicker than traditional braces with visible results in as little as 6-9 months. With consistent aligner wear and regular check-ins with your dentist, Invisalign can effectively and discreetly straighten your smile over time.

The Benefits of Invisalign With Our Expert Dentists In Sheffield

Removable

This is an excellent advantage with Invisalign, as you can remove Invisalign clear aligners when eating and avoid getting any food trapped. They look similar to a thin sports mouthguard. inv

Hygienic

Invisalign makes maintaining a good oral hygiene routine much easier for you. It is much harder to keep your oral hygiene with wire braces, especially with flossing.

Discreet

Invisalign clear aligners are virtually discreet unless they come up really close to you. So hardly anyone will ever notice you are having the treatment. This is why Invisalign is so popular, with thousands of patients opting for this treatment.

Custom Made

Invisalign is renowned for getting great results; much of this is from the 3D computer technology used to custom make the aligners which fit snugly over your teeth. You will receive a new set of aligners every two weeks.

Yes, Invisalign aligners need to be worn 20-22 hours per day to be effective. You can remove them for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing. Wearing them consistently is key to achieving the desired results.

Treatment times vary per case, but the average is between 12-18 months. More complex cases may take up to 2 years. Your dentist will be able to give you a better estimate based on your specific situation.

The treatment process consists of a consultation and digital treatment plan that will create your unique aligners. Changing every 1-2 weeks, they will gradually move your teeth until the desired result.

Through custom-made aligners that apply light force to incrementally move your teeth into place. Each aligner is worn for 1-2 weeks before switching to the next in the series, slowly shifting your teeth.

Invisalign treatment is for teenagers and adults that are looking to straighten their teeth in a more discreet manner than ordinary braces. Good candidates have fully erupted permanent teeth. Invisalign may not work as well for more complex cases.

There are many benefits of Invisalign treatment; for example, it allows for a more flexible approach to straightening your teeth. Many people enjoy that the more flexible treatment means they can maintain their social life without worrying about it ruining their treatment plan.

Another benefit of Invisalign treatment is that it’s much more discreet than traditional braces. And the process doesn’t involve any scary tools or drills (which can prevent some people from getting their teeth straightened and the smile they’ve always wanted).

This is a common question for those considering a dental treatment. Both braces and Invisalign can successfully straighten teeth, but there are some key differences to consider:

  • Appearance – Braces feature metal brackets and wires that are highly visible. Invisalign uses clear removable aligners that are nearly invisible.
  • Comfort – Invisalign aligners are smooth plastic and removable. Braces can irritate the mouth through rubbing and may require wax to buffer brackets.
  • Lifestyle impact – Invisalign allows you to remove aligners for eating, drinking, brushing. Braces make eating trickier and certain foods must be avoided.
  • Treatment time – Average treatment is 12-24 months for braces and 12-18 months for Invisalign. The timeframe depends on the complexity of your case.
  • Cost – Braces tend to cost less overall, around £2,000 – £5,000. Invisalign costs more on average, from £3,000 – £5,000.
  • Eligibility – Invisalign works for less severe misalignment issues. Braces can handle complex cases best.

When you get your first Invisalign aligners, your dentist won’t use any unsafe drugs; for example, anaesthesia or other medications aren’t needed, so it’s safe for pregnant women to have Invisalign fitted and wear the invisible aligners during pregnancy.

That said, there are a few reasons Invisalign may be challenging during pregnancy, including:

  • Pregnancy hormones – Some hormones can make your teeth looser or affect how your teeth respond to plaque or bacteria (which may cause swollen gums and discomfort).
  • Sensitivity – While pregnant, you may experience gum bleeding and irritability, and Invisalign can make your teeth more sensitive.
  • Discomfort – Patients can feel discomfort for the first few days after Invisalign treatment, but for pregnant women, this discomfort might last longer.
  • Morning sickness – If you experience morning sickness during pregnancy, you may need to remove your aligners more often.

As Invisalign is an elective treatment, we advise you to wait to start it until after your pregnancy has ended. If you are mid-way through your pregnancy, it’s safe to continue as long as you wear your aligners and maintain optimum oral hygiene.

As long as your teeth are healthy and free from diseases, you can have Invisalign treatment; even if you have fillings, crowns or veneers, your dentist can fit Invisalign aligners and start your treatment.

If you’re concerned about your fillings and Invisalign treatment, talk to your dentist, who will be able to offer advice and answer any questions you have.

It depends on your individual case, but most people with wisdom teeth can have Invisalign treatment. Those with asymptomatic wisdom teeth (wisdom teeth that don’t cause any problems) can have Invisalign treatment without any issues.

Impacted wisdom teeth may cause some issues with Invisalign, but your dentist will examine your mouth and determine if your wisdom teeth could cause problems during Invisalign treatment.

Your dentist may suggest removing your wisdom teeth if they believe the teeth could cause you pain, get in the way of fitting the Invisalign aligners, or the wisdom teeth are damaging the surrounding teeth.

Ultimately it depends on your specific needs and personal preferences around appearance, comfort and lifestyle. Speak to your dentist today to determine which option may work best for achieving your ideal smile.

At Mola Dental, you will have an initial consultation where we will decide if Invisalign in Sheffield is right for you. We will also advise you on how to wear the aligners and how it fits in with your lifestyle. Book a FREE consultation today on 0114 3177002.
