Affordable, High-Quality In-House Treatments at Mola Dental

Dental implant treatment is the best-known way to replace single or multiple missing teeth because it feels and behaves just like natural teeth.

Tooth loss can significantly affect your self-confidence, how you speak, or the foods you choose to eat and can stop you smiling. It can also cause bone degeneration as there is no natural stimulation from the teeth, leading to a prematurely aged look. Also any remaining teeth may start to move and twist, encouraging trapped food and associated nasties such as bad breath, cavities or gum disease.

The procedure to place implants to replace single missing teeth is straightforward, with little downtime for our patients, because there is little need to treat surrounding teeth.

Implants can also be used to replace multiple missing teeth and are a particularly attractive option for dealing with large gaps, looking more like the natural tooth.

What Is A Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium rod which is permanently fixed into your jawbone. When the implant fuses with the bone, it becomes a strong and long-lasting support to which a single crown or denture.

Our Sheffield dentists recommend placing a dental implant as soon as possible after losing or breaking your tooth or decay could set in and start to cause further problems for you

The Procedure

As part of our cosmetic dentistry services, our dental care practice in Sheffield will assess your teeth, gums and the condition of your jaw bone during an initial consultation. If we discover you have insufficient bone volume, you may need a grafting procedure to allow for the successful placement of implants.

The titanium posts are placed in the bone under a local anaesthetic using a relatively simple surgical procedure. Titanium is very well tolerated by the body, so over a few months the implants will bond with the bone – a process known as osseo-integration.

Once settled in and fully healed, we can fit replacement teeth to the now firmly positioned dental implants. After the dental implant surgery, some patients experience soreness , swelling or sensitivity for a few days.

Dental Implant Options:

Single Replacement Tooth

A single tooth implant is used when there is a single tooth missing requiring replacement. Ideally the implant should be placed shortly after the tooth has been lost to minimise the amount of bone loss in the area. In some cases bone grafting procedures may need to be considered prior to placing an implant.

Full Arch Teeth In A Day
(All On Four)

All-on-4 Same day teeth restorations treatments use dental implants to replace all your top or bottom teeth.

4 titanium implants are placed into the top or the bottom of your jaw to hold the arches of prosthetic teeth in place. They feel, look, and perform just like your own teeth. For many people, dental implants are a preferred alternative to removable dentures.

Your dental implants can be done in one day while you are fully sedated. Once the temporary implants heal in about 3-6 months, you will come back to have them replaced with your permanent false teeth.

They are easy to care for, just like real teeth, and there are no limitations on what you can eat. There are no worries about rubbing or sores caused by friction from dentures, and they are comfortable and feel like your own, natural teeth.

Stabilisation Of Dentures

This is where a denture is supported by underlying dental implants. If an over denture is to be considered in the upper arch a minimum of 4 dental implants are required and a minimum of 2 in the lower arch. The overdenture is made of an acrylic material with custom teeth and a metal reinforcement.

Replacing Missing Teeth

If you have several teeth missing from accident or injury we can help restore your smile using multiple implants to support your new teeth. An implant supported bridge is an option to remedy the loss of multiple teeth where there is no support at the back of the mouth.

It is similar to a conventional bridge. The only difference being that the support of the bridge is provided by the implants as opposed to the natural tooth roots. It is paramount that the implants are well integrated to the bone to ensure they are able to fully support the overlying bespoke bridge.

If a patient does not have enough bone procedures such as bone grafts, sinus lifts, would need to be carried out to build up the bone before the implants can be placed. Implant bridges are suitable in almost any case. It is important that the mouth is completely healthy before dental implants can be considered as a solution.

Aftercare of Dental Implants

You need to maintain good oral hygiene following dental implant treatment to ensure your implants remain trouble-free.

If well looked after, with a regular brushing and flossing routine, they can last for over 15 years. You should also attend regular check-ups or take out a treatment plan, so your dentist can make sure your implants stay in great condition.

Benefits Of Dental Implants

Frequently Asked Questions

Dental implants are one of the leading solutions for missing teeth. To determine if you are a good candidate for dental implants, you will need to partake in a thorough evaluation of your dental and medical history as well as a physical examination of your mouth. In some cases, if you do not have sufficient bone density, we may recommend undergoing a bone grafting procedure.

Like natural teeth, dental implants will generally last as long as you care for them. They require proper oral hygiene attention at home and by a hygienist. With regular maintenance and check-ups, they will last as long as your natural teeth.
