What If You Need an Emergency Dental Appointment?

Dental problems don’t always wait for a convenient time. Whether it’s sudden tooth pain, a cracked tooth, or swelling, knowing where to go and how much it will cost can make a stressful situation much easier to handle.
What Counts as a Dental Emergency?
A dental emergency typically involves:
- Severe or persistent toothache
- Swelling in the mouth or jaw
- Knocked-out, broken, or cracked teeth
- Bleeding that doesn’t stop
- Signs of infection, such as fever or pus
These situations should never be ignored. Early intervention can prevent more serious problems and help save a tooth.
What’s the Average Cost of Emergency Dental Care in Sheffield?
Emergency dental appointments at private clinics in Sheffield generally fall between £75 and £110, depending on whether you’re already a registered patient.
Here’s a snapshot of emergency consultation prices locally:
- Mola Dental
- £109 for non-members

Private Dentist Costs – Is It Worth It?

Choosing private dental care can feel like a big financial decision – but when you look at the long-term benefits, it often turns out to be a smart investment in your health.
The Value of Preventative Care
Routine check-ups and hygiene appointments aren’t just about clean teeth – they’re about catching problems early, before they become painful or expensive. Gum disease, tooth decay, and even oral cancers are far easier (and cheaper) to treat when identified early. Regular visits also help keep your smile looking and feeling its best.
Skipping routine appointments to save money might seem tempting, but it can end up costing far more in the long run.
The True Cost of Delaying Treatment
With a shortage of NHS dental appointments, delaying a simple filling or ignoring a niggling toothache can lead to more complex procedures like root canals, crowns, or even extractions. These treatments are not only more invasive, they’re also significantly more expensive.
For example:
- A routine exam at Mola Dental costs £65,
- While a private root canal costs from £599 once decay is left untreated.
- A private dental extraction costs from £190 to £395 depending on complexity.
Regular, proactive dental care helps avoid these costs and protects your overall well-being.
